At the meeting, workers expressed their urgent matters, difficulties and thoughts to leaders of HCMC. Most of their ideas focus on difficulties, lives of deprivation such as boarding house, income, kindergarten, unemployment insurance, pension, etc. Workers said that they have to live in small sized boarding houses, power and water costs are collected with impunity by home owners, they are facing lots of difficulties. Housing for workers is not attractive due to cramped area and inconvenience in daily life. Most of workers hoped that HCMC gives more support to enterprises to build up small and cheap houses for workers (as Binh Duong province did), reducing number of boarding house. This is a way to keep workers stay long in HCMC.

Speaking at the meeting, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam thanked for their sincere and realistic ideas, saying that proposals related to policies, regulations will be generated and submitted to functional organs. She affirmed that HCMC will continue to take care, ensure social security for workers. Authorities at all levels will listen to workers’ ideas to work out suitable decisions.
