April 18 2015, 0n the celebration of 40 years of liberation of Southern Vietnam and national Reunification, leaders of HCMC People’s Committee organized a meeting with 330 typical intellectuals. Mr. Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of HCMC Party Committee attended.

In the process of construction, protection and development of HCMC, intelligentsia has played an important role. Together with the development of the city, intelligentsia has strongly development. After 1975, HCMC had about 20,000 intellectuals, till now, the number is over 1 million in all fields such as science, technology, social sciences and humanity, etc.
On the half of scientists, intelligentsia, People’s Teachers, Professor., Dr Nguyen Ngoc Giao, Chairman of HCMC Union of Sciences and Technology Associations, conveyed sincere thanks to leaders of HCMC for deep concern for scientists, intelligentsia. Mr. Giao also expressed the common wish of intelligentsia that follows the example of previous generations to devote for the development of HCMC.
At the meeting, Mr. Le Thanh Hai highly appreciated and praised important contributions of intelligentsia to the process of construction, protection, development of the country and HCMC in the last 40 years.
Mr. Hai also hoped intelligentsia of HCMC continues to research and propose solutions for practical issues economic competitiveness of HCMC, planning, management and urban development, flooding, traffic jam, traffic accidents, hospital overloading, administrative reform, etc.
