HCMC to build more Children Entertainment Areas

Speaking at the "Listen and Discuss" talk show on HTV, chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam confirmed the city always focuses on taking care of children, especially have to invest in building more recreation parks.

Ms. Tam said that building parks is the city’s top priority. However, this thing needs the contribution from social community; accordingly, she requested that related agencies have to create favorite condition for investors. Nguyen Van Minh - deputy head of the city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said at the talk show that ten entertainment areas have put into operation since implementation of the People’s Council’s No.15 decree on building recreation parks for children. Investment projects for three play houses in Districts Tan Phu, Hoc Mon and Binh Chanh has been approved. In addition, 67 other amusement areas have put into operation in Can Gio and Cu Chi. It is scheduled in 2015, the city will build more 5,700 entertainment parks in rural districts. However, Mr. Minh said that the area of entertainment parks is very small with 80 percent under 100 meter square; 13 percent of 100-1,000 meter square and seven percent of over 1,000 meter square. However, participants complained that current children play areas are polluted atmosphere and have many bad subjects, moreover, they are located far away from residential blocks. (SGGP)
