Ho Chi Minh City authority decided to support 29,000 poor households whose yearly income of below VND16 million (US$ 733.4) on Tet (Lunar New Year), which is only two weeks away.
Nguyen Thanh Sang , deputy chairman of People’s Committee of District 8 said that the district will spend more than VND750 million taken from VND1.7 billion (US$77,928) charity fund and social contribution to take care of more than 2,500 families whose yearly income below VND16 million(US$ 733.4). The district authority will also give VND300,000 (US$13.7) to each family whose annual income from VND16 million to VND21 million (US$9,626).
Binh Tan District authority will also give the support to over 1,100 families whose economic condition is nearly poverty line with yearly income below VND17 million (US$779). The district authority will provide each households VND700,000 (US$32). Phan Van Dinh from People’s Committee of Binh Thanh District said that authority is checking the number of poverty households in the district to support them.
The district authority plans to give support to families with yearly income below VND16 million and VND18 million each VND700,000 and VND500,000 respectively.
District 1 plans to spend VND19 billion (US$ 870,960) to take care of 900 poverty families each VND500,000 and nearly 700 poverty households each with VND300,000. in addition the district will give gifts each worth VND300,000 to 1,800 managers of residential quarters; 800 needy children; pupils and teachers in charity classes and social supporting centers; 200 senior people; 100 students who stay in the city on Tet holidays.
