As a report of HCMC People’s Committee and Ministry of Planning and Investment from 2016-2018 related to National Target Program, the city strives to reduce poverty rate by 0,8% and near poverty rate by 1% in 2019. At the same time, it aims to achieve a basic target of no poor household under the city’s criteira in 2019-2020 (under 0,5%) and income per capita of poor households increasing by 3,5 times (compared to 2011) in 2020.
In order to achieve the above target, HCMC will first apply policies and solutions to support poor households in the period of 2016-2020.
In addition, the city will adjust, supplement suitable policies and solutions with new regulations from Central Government such as: mobilization of resources and implementation of policies for poverty reduction; providing preferential loans and vocational training programs as well as job settlement; giving support in terms of education, health care, social insurance, housing, etc .
On purpose of improving quality of life for poor people and ensuring sutainable poverty reduction, for a city with civilized-modern-sentitmental city with better living quality, the city will focus on reducing poverty, preventing risks of return to poverty; creating the most favorable conditions for poor people to access to basically social services (training-educaiton, health, social insurance, housing, information, etc.) in the next phases.
