On the afternoon of September 13, at the headquarter of HCMC People’s Committee, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong and Governor of Aichi City (Japan) Hideaky Ohmura signed MOU on cooperation and friendship relations.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong stressed that the signing is an important linking bridge to promote cooperation relations between both cities in fields of economy, investment, trade, culture and human resource.
Mr. Phong said Japan is now ranked sixth amongst foreign investors in HCMC with more than 800 projects, this is still not matched with both sides’ potential. Aichi City’s strength of engineering industry is what HCMC needs, so the MOU will be an opportunity for both sides to strengthen their cooperation relations. Mr. Phong suggested Aichi to provide Japanese language scholarships to train a highly skilled Japanese language human resource to strengthen both sides’ cooperation.
For his part, Mr. Hideaki Ohmura highly valued the role of HCMC for economic development of the whole country, saying Aichi is willing to support HCMC to develop some key industries like automobile manufacturing, airplane and robot manufacturing. In addition, Mr. Hideaki Ohmura expressed his hope to promote cooperation in field of urban infrastructure because this is also strength of Aichi City. He added that the signing of MOU will deepen the cooperation relations between HCMC and Aichi in the future.
