Participants of the meeting included former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, Head of HCMC Party’s Committee – Secretary of Party Central Committee Le Thanh Hai, Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh, former Deputy President Truong My Hoa, Permanent Deputy Secretary of HCMC Party’s Committee Vo Van Thuong, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, etc. The meeting attracted participation of nearly 250 members of National Assembly over the periods that are living and working in HCMC.

At the meeting, members of National Assembly reviewed great historical events, especially the historical moment of the first general election of National Assembly of Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now Socialist Republic of Vietnam) dated January 6 1946. They shared     memories of being trusted and chosen by voters as delegates who represent the will and aspirations of people.

Participants affirmed that National Assembly of Vietnam, in the last 70 years, has made great contributions to the common revolution of the country, saying that the National Assembly was the embodiment of great national unity block, representing the will and aspirations of people, striving for independence, national reunification and now for rich people, strong country, equitable, democratic and civilized society. Various generations of members of National Assembly of HCMC has stayed side by side with the Party, authority and people of HCMC to strengthen monitoring, contacting voters and contributing to the settlement of important issues.

Addressing at the meeting, Mr. Le Thanh Hai highly valued the achieved results of Vietnam based on positive contributions of many generations of members of National Assembly, including of HCMC. The Party, the State and People always recognize, respect and highly value operation results and contributions of members in the struggle for national liberalization and reunification as well as in the process of innovation, construction and protection of the nation. He hoped that the delegation of HCMC’s Congress continues to strive for stronger innovation to enhance operation effectiveness and to better accomplish its responsibilities as a worthy representative of people’s will and aspirations.
