On October 7, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem received Japanese business delegation led by Head of Jetro headquartered in Quang Chau, China, Amano Shynia.
At the reception, Mr. Amano Shynia said that the delegation includes 12 businesses in fields electronic part, plastic molds, packaging molds, office equipment, etc. The visit aims to study Vietnamese market as well as to expand investment cooperation. He expressed his hope to receive support from HCMC’s authority in introducing fields that the city is calling for investment, preferential investment policies for foreign investors.
For his part, Mr. Le Thanh Liem highly valued contrubitions of Japanese business community to the development of Vietnam in general and of HCMC in particular. Mr. Liem affirmed that Japanese companies doing business in HCMC have participated in many big projects in HCMC. Japan is now ranked 6th out of foreign countries and territories investing in HCMC with 900 projects worth US$ 3 billion. However, according to Mr. Liem, it is still not matched with both sides’ cooperation potential.
Regarding to preferential policies for foreign direct investment, Me. Liem affirmed that the city always welcome Japanese enterprises which are of high technology, labor extensive, causing less environmental harm. Especially, Japanese investors are focusing on fields of HCMC’s interest like mechanical engineering, information technology, chemical and food processing.
