In the evening of June 5, Permanent Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem received British Ambassador to Vietnam Giles Lever on a courtesy visit to HCMC to bid his farewell.
At the meeting, Mr. Liem highly valued Mr. Giles Lever’s contributions in strengthening Vietnam-Britain Friendship Relations, including with HCMC. In his term, Vietnam-Britain strategic partnership has been strengthened in many fields of economy, culture. Today, Britain is one of the largest trade and investment partners of HCMC with two way trade of nearly US$ 800 million in 2017.
For his part, Mr. Giles Lever thanked the city’s leaders for their active cooperation in his term Vietnam, saying the city’s leaders have created favorable conditions for British Consulate General and British Council in the city. He said that under the framework of the Commonwealth, the UK will support HCMC through some cooperation programs of urban management enhancement, smart traffic system development.
