On the afternoon of March 21, at Unification Hall, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on an official visit to Vietnam.
At the reception, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong expressed his delight at receiving Mr. Lee Hsien Loong and the high-profile delegation of Singaporean Government to the city. Mr. Phong affirmed that it is Vietnam’s consistent policy to attaché importance to expansion of friendship relation with Singapore in both bilateral and multi-lateral levels for the benefits of both countries’ people, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the world and the region.
Mr. Phong affirmed the city’s authorities have been always making efforts in improving investment environment, creating favorable conditions for investors, including Singaporean investors, to do business successfully in HCMC. Highly appreciated HCMC-Singapore economic-trade-investment achievements, Mr. Phong suggested Singapore to conduct research and implementation of a large-scale project as a symbol of both sides and to be matched with the position of the largest foreign investor in HCMC.
Chairman Phong also suggested Singapore to strengthen exchanging activities, especially exchanges of professional delegations with HCMC to create favorable conditions for both sides to share experience on prioritized orientations of HCMC such as constructing smart city, upgrading infrastructure, training high quality human resource towards sustainable development, etc.
For his part, Lee Hsien Loong highly appreciated Vietnam-Singapore well-developed cooperation relations. Since 2013, Vietnam and Singapore has established strategic partnership as a solid foundation for both countries to develop in all fields of economy, trade, investment. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong expressed his belief that Singapore and Vietnam will continue strengthening bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation relations in ASEAN block.
Mr. Lee Hsien Loong highly appreciated HCMC’s development potential, saying 900 Singaporean investment projects in HCMC is a vivid proof for special attention of Singaporean investors to HCMC. Singapore will continue strengthening trade and investment cooperation with HCMC, including delegation exchanges, experience sharing in urban management and construction.
