On the afternoon of February 22, Permanent Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem received Mrs. Emiko Hazama, Deputy Mayor of Sakai City, Osaka province (Japan) who was on a 4 day visit to Vietnam (February 20-23)
At the reception, Mr. Le Thanh Liem said Japanese businesses have continuously invested in HCMC in recent years. Total investment capital of Japan has so far reached US$ 2, 3 billion in HCMC, ranked 6 out of 80 countries and territories investing in the city.
Mr. Liem highly appreciated Japanese investment and said that the city will create favorable conditions for businesses of Sakai city to invest in HCMC. He stressed that HCMC always consider foreign investment a driving force for the city’s economic development. Mr. Liem expressed his hope that Mrs. Emiko Hazama as a deputy major of Sakai city will encourage businesses of Sakai to strengthen their investment in HCMC.
For her part, Mrs. Emiko Hazama said Sakai city is Japan’s second largest city in Osaka province with a population of 840, 000 people, the city has a tradition of industrial and mechanical development with large amount of small and medium-sized enterprises. She highly appreciated investment and trade cooperation opportunities between both sides, saying Sakai city will further promote and support its businesses to seek investment and trade expansion opportunities in fields of industrial production, mechanical manufacturing in Vietnam.
