Index of Industrial Production (IIP) of HCMC in January 2015 is estimated to enjoy an increase of 9,2% compared to the same period of last year. Scale of industrial production of HCMC is continuously expanded, internal structure of industrial production sector continues to transfer to the direction of increasing proportions of processing industries, manufacturing and reducing proportions of mining industries.

According to reports of HCMC, 4 key industries (mechanical manufacturing, electronics, chemical-rubber-plastic, food processing) are estimated to increase by 10% compared to the same period, higher than common increase of the whole sectors. Mechanical manufacturing is fast growing, playing an important role of economic development, an increase of 20,8% compared to the same period. Electronics sector increases by 3,3% compared to the same period. Chemical-rubber-plastics increase by 15,7%, food and beverage processing increase by 5,7% compared to the same period.

In the first month of 2015, amount of electricity consumption is estimated at 1,660 kWh, up 22,7% compared to the same period, commercial electricity output is estimated at 1,593kWh, up 11,82% compared to the same period. Power saving of HCMC is estimated at 30 million kWh, accounting for 2,38% of commercial electricity output and 9,54% of the plan.
