According to a report of HCMC Department of Health, medical establishments under HCMC Department of Health in 2016 has provided outpatient medical diagnosis and treatment services to 35, 4 million patients, 30-40% of them coming from Southern provinces; offering inpatient treatment services to 1, 7 million people, 40-60% of them coming from Southern provinces. In addition, affiliated hospitals under Ministry of Health and other ministries and departments have provided outpatient diagnosis and treatment services to 5, 1 million patients and inpatient treatment services to 1, 2 million people.
From April 29 2016, hospitals in HCMC have launched 13 satellite clinics in Cu Chi Hospital, 7 inpatient units in Cu Chi Hospital from May 5 2017. All hospitals in districts of HCMC have obstetrics and pediatrics units; 176/319 medical clinics are competent enough to provide initial health insurance diagnosis services, 144 are providing health insurance diagnosis services.
In 2017, HCMC’s health sector aims to: improve quality of health services associated with quality of diagnosis and treatment services; implement disease warning and prevention activities; invest in facilities of health-care units towards providing high quality health care services; apply IT and strengthen administrative reform contributing to construction of civilized city with better living quality.
