On October 28, HCMC People’s Committee organized a meeting on economic-cultural-social-national defense-security-budget revenue and spending situation in October and the first 10 months of 2016. Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee chaired the meeting.
As a report at the meeting, HCMC’s economy continues to grow in the first 10 months of 2016, so do service-trade and import-export activities.
Specifically, total retail sale and consumer service revenue in October are estimated at VND 56,569.4 billion. Total export-import volume in the first 10 months reached US$ 26, 6 billion, up 6, 5% compared to the same period of last year, if excluding crude oil value, it is estimated at US$ 24, 4 billion, up 12, 2%. Import volume in the first 10 months reached US$ 30, 3 billion, up 10, 7% compared to the same period.
In term of domestic investment, a total of 29, 899 enterprises were newly established with total registered capital of VND 242, 162 billion, 44, 495 enterprises registering for changing business content with additional investment capital of VND 169, 968 billion. A total of registered and additional investment reaches VND 412, 130 billion, up 45, 9% compared to the same period.
In term of foreign investment, there are about 668 newly registered projects worth US$ 789, 7 million and 145 projects registering for increasing investment capital worth US$ 477.3 billion. In addition, the city has approved 1,469 cases of contributing capital, acquiring stocks from foreign investors with total value of US$ 1, 23 billion. As a whole, the city attracted US$ 2, 5 billion in the first 10 months of 2016.
Regarding to its tasks in November, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong requested relevant departments and agencies to focus on completing, implementing 7 breakthrough programs in the period of 2015-2020, the Resolution No 3907/QD-UBND on implementation of Resolution No 35/NQ-CP of the Government on supporting enterprises till 2020, preparing for organizing the two important events of the city including “Overseas Vietnamese joining hands to build and develop the city” and “Vietnam-Japan Festival 2016”.
