HCMC’s delegation to visit Truong Sa Island

On April 4, a delegation of HCMC led by Permanent Deputy Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang paid a visit to soldiers and people working and living in Song Tu Tay Islet (Truong Sa Island, Vietnam)

Accompanied with the delegation include Mr. Le Thanh Liem, Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee, Rear Admiral Le Minh Thanh – Deputy Commander of the Navy, representatives of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee-HCMC, representatives of armed forces, districts and enterprises in HCMC.

Speaking at the meeting with soldiers and people in Song Tu Tay Islet, Mr. Tat Thanh Cang stressed: “We are very impressed by teamwork spirit of our soldiers and people of Song Tu Tay Islet. This has created a military-civilian power, the spirit of discipline, solidarity. We feel secured because our young soldiers in Truong Sa Island are always ready for fighting at the highest spirit. HCMC’s people and staff are always looking forward to soldiers and people in Truong Sa in general and in Song Tu Tay in particular with all our love. You are the bright examples of the spirit of fulfilling every mission in the toughest condition to protect our country”.

In a report, a representative of Song Tu Tay Islet said the clinic in Song Tu Tay Islet in 2015 has provided diagnosis and treatment services to thousands of people, including 300 fishermen in Truong Sa fishing areas, conducting emergency and rescue activities for 200 cases. Projects in the islet also received hundreds of ships for shelter during storms and ensured safety of lives and property of fishermen.

Accompanying with the delegation include relatives of 4 soldiers on duty in Truong Sa Island, of whom 3 are on duty in Song Tu Tay Islet. The delegation has donated foods, medicines, essential goods, fertilizers, seeds, multi gym exercise equipment, TVs, etc to soldiers and people in the Island. Some entertainment and music shows were performed by singers as a gift to soldiers and peoples in the Island.
