Attending the celebration include Secretary of HCMC Party’s Committee Le Thanh Hai, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, former vice president Truong My Hoa, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Mr. Le Hoang Quan, Permanent vice secretary Vo Van Thuong, Vice Secretary Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice Secretary Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairwoman of People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee-HCMC Nguyen Hoang Nang.

In his speech, Mr. Le Hoang Quan reviewed moments of heroic struggle of Vietnamese people. Under leadership of the Party 70 years ago, Vietnamese soldiers and people have overthrown the yoke of colonialism and fascism leading to the success of August Revolution in 1945.

Mr. Quan stressed: inheriting the historical experiences of August Revolution, the Party, soldiers and people of Saigon-Cho Lon-Gia Dinh have unanimously overcome every difficulty and challenge, contributing to the overall liberation of the South and national reunification. HCMC is a special city, a large economic –cultural-educational –scientific center and a hub for exchanging and international integration. With a dynamic, creative, responsible tradition, HCMC has launched many social security and humanitarian programs, the political system is secured and maintained effectively.

 
According to Mr. Quan, despite of socio-economic achievements, HCMC is facing lots of difficulties and challenges. In order to overcome, in the coming time, HCMC will focus on organizing successfully the Party’s Congress X of the City in 2015-2020 and looking forward to the XII National Congress of the Party. In the rest of 2015, departments and agencies at all levels must make efforts in implementing the Resolution of the Party of HCMC to achieve economic-cultural-social targets.

HCMC will do its best to exploit its economic potential and to enhance its competitiveness, making a breakthrough in infrastructure structure, strengthening urban development, strengthening environmental protection, limiting impacts of climate change and rising sea level.

On behalf of leaders of the State and the Party, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Doan awarded the Order of Ho Chi Minh to leaders of Ho Chi Minh City in recognition of excellent achievements in the construction and protection of the nation. Earlier, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Doan together with leaders of HCMC offered incense and flowers at HCMC Museum, Ton Duc Thang Museum and Ho Chi Minh Monument Park.
