On April 26, a high-profile delegation of the State and The Party of Laos led by General Secretary and President Bounnhang Volachith made a visit to HCMC. After a solemn welcome ceremony at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Dinh La Thang and Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh PHong had a meeting with Mr. Bounnhang Volachith.

On behalf of the Party, authority and people of HCMC, Mr. Dinh La Thang expressed his delight at receiving the General Secretary and President Bounnhang Volachith and the delegation in HCMC. He also expressed his belief that with leadership of The Lao People’s Revolutionary Party led by Mr. Bounnhang Volachith, the country will continue to achieve more important results.

Mr. Dinh La Thang said HCMC has been focusing on implementing the Resolution of the XII Congress of Communist Party of Vietnam and the Resolution of the 10th Congress of HCMC Party Committee with 7 breakthrough solutions to make HCMC a modern-civilized-sentimental city with better living quality, speeding up economic growth, constructing HCMC a leading center of finance, investment, science, technology, education and training in the region. He said HCMC frequently receives high profile delegations of Lao visiting the city. He affirmed that HCMC commits to closely cooperate with localities of Lao, respecting traditional friendship and special solidarity relation between both countries, the city considers the success of Lao as its own. He also committed that HCMC will well develop cooperation projects with Lao, respect special relation between Vietnam and Lao in general and of HCMC with localities of Lao in particular.

In his part, Mr. Bounnhang Volachith sincerely thanked Mr. Dinh La Thang, leaders and people of HCMC for their warm welcome and passionate hospitality. He highly valued multi-faceted development of HCMC for the common development of Vietnam. He said in the context of complicated situations of the region and the world, HCMC still maintains a stable development and a motive force of Vietnam’s economy.

Highly valued support, co-operation between HCMC with localities of Lao, Mr. Bounnhang Volachith said HCMC’s contributions and support for Lao are very effective. He expressed his belief that the relation between HCMC and localities of Lao will be further developed, improving the relation of both sides’ Party, State and people which were developed and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihaneand leaders of both countries.
