HCMC receives 20 new heads of Vietnam Overseas Representative Missions

On August 3, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong and leaders and related departments and agencies had a meeting with 20 new heads of Vietnam Overseas Representative Missions led by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan and Republic of Marshall Islands Vu Hong Nam.


Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Phong said the city is always a leading city in global integration. The city has established friendship and cooperation relations with over 50 foreign localities in 5 continents as well as with international entities and organizations such as World Bank, Asia Development Bank, KfW, etc. International cooperation has helped improve stature of HCMC, the city has made advantage of assistance from international friends.

Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong added the city is now implementing the smart city project which requires a big amount of capital and technology. He expressed his hope that ambassadors and consul general will help introduce these key projects to potential investors, foreign partners and enterprises.

Besides, HCMC has launched many programs to attract experts, scientists and foreign business community to support development of key sectors. He said that heads of Vietnam overseas representative missions will connect with this group. He expressed his hope that new heads of Vietnam overseas representative missions will play the role of linking bridge to introduce the State’s policies to business, wishing them success with their new roles in the term of 2018-2021.

On behalf of new heads of Vietnam overseas representative missions, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Vu Hong Nam – Vietnam Ambassador to Japan and The Republic of Marshall Islands thanked the city’s leaders and affirmed to listen to the city’s suggestions. He added that heads of Vietnam overseas representative missions will continue strengthening external relations between HCMC and other countries in the fields of the city’s interest.

Mr. Nam emphasized that he will accompany localities of Vietnam to support and strengthen international cooperation.
