HCMC receives 1,166,423 foreign visitors in the first 6 months of 2015

According to Steering Committee of HCMC Tourism Development, there are 2,155,423 international tourists coming to HCMC in the first 6 months of 2015, accounting for 57% total visitors coming to Vietnam, up 3% compared to the same period and 46% of the year’s plan. Total revenue from tourism in HCMC (travel, hotel, restaurant) reached VND 45,799 billion, up 45% compared to the same period of 2014.
HCMC continues to develop many tourist products including waterway tourism, completion of temporary regulations on management and exploitation of domestic wharfs, supporting private tourist companies to offer river tours at Nhieu Loc Canal.
In particular, the program of “HCMC-100 exciting things” is based public selection criteria with an advisory and supervision board to ensure quality and prestige of the program. Additionally, the program of “standard tourism services” has launched 140 spots (74 catering and 66 shopping). HCMC Department of Tourism has published “Handbook of HCMC’s tourism service”, Handicraft and Wood Industry Association (HAWA) has designed typical handicraft souvenirs of HCMC.
In addition, HCMC Department of Tourism has announced official operation of switchboard 1087, publishing books introducing tourist sites in HCMC to domestic and international visitors including HCMC-Lam Dong-Binh Thuan tourism handbook, putting into operation the website of HCMC Department of Tourism (www.sodulich.hochiminhcity.gov.vn).
