It tasked the Department of Planning and Investment to consider adjustment of planning norms to half-done projects to prevent them from lasting too long and bringing about bad corollaries for the real estate market.

The city also assigned the Department of Construction to inspect the quality and progress of housing and resettlement projects, thence propose the solutions in effective quality management.

The department has been asked to consult for the city about specific mechanisms to repair and rebuild downgraded apartment blocks and clear away houses on and along canals.

In related news, the city People’s Committee has instructed the Department of Construction to work with related agencies and district authorities to quarterly announce building material prices.

The quarterly announcement will comprise prices in each month of that quarter. Circular 06/2016 of the Ministry of Construction just regulates to announce the price of materials with unusual fluctuations.

The HCMC People’s Committee also requires districts to maintain market information collection to update the prices of popular and major construction materials in their districts, and send quarterly price reports to the department by the tenth day in the mid month of the quarter at the latest.

The report should specify names and addresses of shops, quality standards and origin of products, the comittee asked.
