At the reception, Chairman Phong said that with Vietnam-China cooperation relations being well-developed, multi-faceted friendship and cooperation relations between localities of Vietnam and Hong Kong have positively developed with fruitful results. Mutual high-profile visit exchanges between both sides have made contributions to the deep and wide economic-investment-trade cooperation relations.
 
Vietnam is now the largest trade partner of Hong Kong in ASEAN. Till August 2018, Hong Kong has 1,355 projects in Vietnam worth US$ 19 billion. Till end of August 2018, Hong Kong ranked 7/100 countries and territories investing in HCMC with 474 projects worth over US$ 2.4 billion. HCMC always attaches importance of establishing economic-trade-investment cooperation relations with Hong Kong, the city always welcome investors from Hong Kong to strengthen and expand investment in the city in fields of banking, real estate, textile and garment, finance, freight forwarding, etc.

Chairman Phong added HCMC is an economic center of Vietnam and looking forward to becoming a leading economic-financial center of Southeast Asia region. Therefore, he expressed his hope that businesses, experts of Hong Kong will share experience as well as support HCMC to build and run the economic – financial center.

For his part, Mr. Tran Mau Ba, expressed his impression at good development of HCMC, saying that Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular are always ideal destinations for investors of Hong Kong thanks to advantages: social-political stability, dynamic economy, deep and wide global integration, etc.  Mr. Tran Mau Ba expressed his hope that Vietnam-Hong Kong trade-investment cooperation relations will further development, saying Hong Kong is willing to support HCMC to build and operate the economic & financial center. He expressed his hope that the Vietnam Government and authorities of HCMC will create favorable conditions for foreign investors, including those from Hong Kong to invest in Vietnam.
