HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway ready for traffic next month
Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan on January 23 made a field trip to the construction site of HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway project in preparations for an open-to-traffic ceremony expected in the southern province of Dong Nai on February 8.
According to the project’s management board the route has basically been built and ready for the ceremony. Disbursement rate reached over 93 percent as of January 23. Contractors have pledged to complete the remaining items before February 5.
HCMC should speed up construction of Ba Bo Canal cleanup project in Thu Duc District and the sewerage system in Do Xuan Hop Street, where cross the expressway, to ensure thorough traffic.
The chairman instructed the HCMC Department of Planning and Architecture to build an architectural management mechanism and urban design for the expressway in the city, and the Department of Transport and Police Department to guide vehicular traffic at intersections between the expressway and other roads.
HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway stretching 55.7 kilometers with 4-8 lanes has a total investment capital of VND20,630 billion (US$965 million), financed by Asian Development Bank and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
The expressway’s completion is expected to facilitate the development of not only HCMC but also the southeastern region.
