On April 15, HCMC People’s Committee has launched the “action month for food safety 2017” with a theme of “Producing, trading and consuming fresh and safe food; preventing alcohol poisoning”.
In the past time, the city has worked out new and creative initiatives in food safety management including: building food safety chain; coordinating with provinces to inspect food safety from livestock to consumption; building scheme on concentrated slaughterhouse; building and expanding production model in accordance to VietGap, etc. These initiatives have helped reduce and keep the use of prohibited substances at pig breeding farms under control, reducing rate of antibiotic residues on aquaculture.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu requested functional and related organs to well implement inspection on food trading and production facilities as well as the use of chemicals on agro-commodity at wholesale markets, etc. She also requested People’s Committees of Districts to kick off “the action month for food safety” at each locality, strengthening propaganda programs on food safety. Fresh food-alcohol drink production and trading enterprises must strictly obey regulations on food safety.
