In the framework of the visit of Danish Minister of Trade and Development Co-operation to Vietnam, on January 21, in HCMC, Danish Embassy in Vietnam organized Vietnam-Denmark business seminar to further promote economic, trade and investment co-operation between the two countries.
Speaking at the seminar, Vice Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hong stressed that after 43 years since establishing diplomatic ties in 1971, Vietnam-Denmark relation has gained many achievements. Co-operation relationship between both sides has been built on a firm basis to develop through elevation of bilateral relationships to strategic partnerships in September 2013.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong affirmed authority of HCMC commits to focus on creating an open investment environment and favorable conditions for Danish investors.
At the seminar, Danish Minister of Trade and Development Co-operation Mr. Mogens Jensen said that economic co-operation relationship between Denmark and Vietnam in the past time has gained positive changes: from aid co-operation to trade co-operation. This seminar is an opportunity to bring Vietnam-Denmark relations to a new height.
According to statistics of Ministry of Trade and Industry, since establishing diplomatic ties, bilateral economic and investment co-operation has achieved positive changes. From 2001 till now, trade exchange of the two countries enjoyed an average increase of 16%/year. In 2013, two way trade reached US$ 450 million. Till end of 2014, this figure reached nearly US$ 480 million, up 6,45%, of which Vietnam exports to Denmark stayed at US$ 303 million, up 13,2%.
