In a report, Director of HCMC Department of Training and Education Le Hong Son said, 14 students in HCMC won international awards in the school year 2017-2018 including 4 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals, 6 team prizes.

In the national excellent student contest, 167 students gained high achievements, 2, 185 excellent students at secondary school, 2, 232 excellent high school students city-level contests, 442 won first, second and third and consolation prizes at national competitions on science and technology.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu highly valued performances of the city’s students with 4, 590 excellent students in 2017-2018 school year, up 330 as of last year, saying that these results are thanked to common efforts of the whole sector, persistency in education and training renovation of the city toward the Industry 4.0 and smart city.

In the coming time, Mrs. Thu expressed his hope that the city will continue developing specialized schools not only in the city’s centre but also in suburb regions to create high quality human resource for development requirements.

Besides, she suggested that education sector needs to strengthen scientific research activities to help students deal with practical issues, improve quality of English language and IT training in high schools.
