On 9 June, HCMC’s Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation organized a ceremony to honor outstanding blood donors in 2015. The ceremony was organized to mark the World Blood Donor Day, June 14.
780 individuals were honored, of whom 12 were awarded certificates of merits from Prime Minister, 153 were awarded certificates of merits from The Central Red Cross Association. The ceremony aims to honor and praise blood donors who made excellent performances in participating and mobilizing voluntary blood donation in HCMC in 2015.
Addressing at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Hua Ngoc Thuan was grateful to blood donors for their voluntary contributions in the past years, encouraging altruism and educating a healthy lifestyle for community. From this spirit, HCMC has established many models of effectively voluntary blood donation.
HCMC has many models of effectively voluntary blood donation such as preparatory blood donation team, rare blood club, blood donation family, etc. In 2015, HCMC aims to reach 185,000 voluntary blood donors equivalent to 230,000 blood units.
