HCMC encourages hi-tech urban agriculture development
Ho Chi Minh City encourages hi-tech applied farming of plants and animals suitable with urban agriculture such as dairy cows, ornamental plants, safe vegetables and seedling, said Deputy Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem.
At a conference hosted recently to review the city’s agriculture last year, Mr. Liem said that because of limited farming land area, HCMC would focus on improving the quality of dairy cow herds instead of quantity which has touched 100,000 cows so far.
The committee tasked HCMC Biotechnology Center and Hi-Tech Agricultural Park to collect, multiply and create new orchid varieties by cross-breeding to meet growing demand of farmers.
