The visitors called on the city’s deputy mayor, Kim Jong Hae, at the city hall.

HCMC, Vietnam’s southern economic hub, offers many incentives to encourage investors despite the economic crisis, Ha told her host.

South Korea is the fourth largest investor in the city, and about 90,000 Korean nationals live and do business in HCMC.

Koreans living in HCMC have made important and positive contributions to the city’s development, she said.

She hoped that HCMC and Busan would continue to promote investment, cultural and educational exchanges. 

Kim promised to create positive conditions for celebrating the 20th anniversary of relations between HCMC and Busan next year.

In the afternoon Ha met with the National Labor Relations Commission of Busan to learn about the city’s experience in maintaining labor relations.

She visited the mediation room meant to hear labor disputes, which was designed like a park to give it a friendly ambience.

She then called on Vietnam’s Honorary Consul General to Busan, Park Soo Kwan.

He told her he appreciated the patriotism, will, and solidarity of Vietnamese and hoped Vietnam would develop into a prosperous country.

Park said he has a factory in Binh Duong, which was unaffected in the recent anti-China protests while none of other 1,300-odd South Korean businesses in Vietnam were badly damaged.

He said he felt secure because the Vietnamese Government had acted quickly and effectively.
