On February 26, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan chaired a regular meeting on socio-economic, cultural, defense, security situation in February and deploying assignments in March 2015

According to reports of HCMC Department of Planning and investment, total retail sales and service turnover in February 2015 are estimated at VND 52,623 billion, down 4,2% compared with previous month and up 31% compared to the same period of last year.

The reason for decline is due to a 9 day Tet holiday in February, shopping power of people only took place in first half of February. Total retail sales of goods and services in the first two months are estimated at VND 107,554.2 billion, up 11,7% compared to the same period of last year.

Investment operation of local enterprises and attraction of foreign direct investment continue to grow. Compared to the same period, newly registered enterprises and renewal of business registered content increased in both quantity and investment capital. Foreign investment continued to attract more projects with large investment capital.

Mr. Le Hoang Quan requested departments, sectors, districts, to effectively carry out key missions in March, concentrating on contacting, grasping and removing difficulty for enterprises, supporting enterprises to accelerate production-trade activities, striving to achieve GDP o 8% up in the first quarter of 2015.
