HCMC Chairman sends Tet wishes to workers, soldiers
Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan led the delegation to visit station of Saigon river's tunnel in District 2 to wish soldiers there a happy new year, on New Year's Eve (February 18).
Mr Tat Thanh Cang, deputy chairman of HCMC People's Committee; Major General Truong Van Hai Commander of the city high command; Vo Thi Dung, a member of the city Party and cum Chairwoman of HCM City's Fatherland Front Committee attended the visit to the station.
After encouraging soldiers to do good task to bring happiness for all residents, Mr. Quan presented them Tet gifts.
On the same day, the city chairman also visited and sent Tet wishes to electricity workers in Dong Van Cong Street in District 2, asking them maintain stable electricity source in the special occasion.
Mr. Quan toured to the station in Cat Lai and Cat Lai Wharf in Nguyen Thi Dinh Street in District 2 to wish soldiers and wharf employees to have good health and achieve more accomplishments.

On the day, the first consignment of the year was loaded. On behalf of soldiers and employees of the wharf, admiral Nguyen Dang Nghiem thanked the city leaders and people’s hearts, adding that all turnover of the first consignment will be supported charity activities.
Accordingly, VND500 million (US$23,447) will be sent to the fund for the poor in the city; VND200 million (US$9,378) will be supported the fund to give free meals for the poor; each district including District 2, Thu Duc, Binh Thanh will receive VND100 million (US$4,690).
