HCMC and New Zealand strengthen co-operation

On November 17, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee received Mr. Steven Joyce, Minister of Economic Development cum Minister of Tertiary Education-Skills-Employment on a working visit to Vietnam.


At the meeting, Mr. Le Thanh Liem expressed his delight at good relation between Vietnam and New Zealand, saying that Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular is always attaching importance to comprehensive co-operation relation with New Zealand.

Mr. Liem thanked New Zealand for its support in training English language for cadre and staff of HCMC in the past time, stressing that HCMC and New Zealand have many co-operation potentials. It is expected to put into operation the direct flight between HCMC and New Zealand in June 2016, once opened; it will further develop economic-trade-cultural-tourism relations between both countries.
 
Mr. Liem hoped that Mr. Steven Joyce continue to encourage businesses of New Zealand to strengthen co-operation with businesses of HCMC in particular and those of Vietnam in general in many fields, especially in education-training, trade, tourism and agriculture, etc. HCMC commits to create every favorable condition for foreign investors, including those from New Zealand.

In his part, Mr. Steven Joyce said the visit to Vietnam is accompanied with many businesses in fields of education, aviation; many of them signed 5 agreements in fields of education-training sector with Vietnamese universities, 2 agreements in pilot training co-operation. Mr. Steven Joyce highly valued the plan of opening direct flight between New Zealand and HCMC, saying that it will not only open new economic co-operation potential but also further promote co-operation in other fields.
