According to the MOU, HCMC and Leipzig will promote activities in fields of mutual concern, especially in health, environment technology and energy, sustainable urban development, science and education, culture, sports, etc.

Both sides will support co-operation initiatives of public institutions, associations, organizations and concerned parties, looking ahead of common goals.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Le Hoang Quan expresses his delight at receiving a delegation of Leipzig led by Mayor Burkhard. Mr. Quan said that Vietnam and Germany has been remaining good relationship and promoting effective co-operation in many fields. HCMC has received many high-profile visits of Germany which showed that co-operation relations are based on mutual trust.

Mr. Quan believed that the MOU on establishment of friendship relations between the two cities will further strengthen friendship co-operation and understanding, promoting co-operation in many fields and contributing to the deeply strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany

Mayor Buckhard Jung thanked for warming welcome of leaders of HCMC, saying that he would like to understand and promote co-operation relations in projects of hospitals, health care, waste treatment under green models.
