On November 18, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received new Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda in his courtesy visit to HCMC.
At the reception, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong congratulated Mr. Kunio Umeda on being appointed as new Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam. Mr. Phong said Vietnam and Japan have huge potential for cooperation. He expressed his belief that in his new tenure in Vietnam, Mr. Kunio Umeda will further promote Vietnam-Japan cooperation relation, including with HCMC.
Japan is now ranked 6th out of 79 countries and territories investing in HCMC. Mr. Phong affirmed that HCMC and Japan still have many cooperation opportunities; he expressed his hope that Mr. Kunio Umeda will further promote cooperation relation between HCMC and localities of Japan, making contributions to the improvement of Vietnam-Japan cooperation relation.
Mr. Kunio Umeda thanked HCMC’s leaders for supporting Japanese businesses and people to live and work in the city. He affirmed that in his new tenure in Vietnam, he will do his best to further strengthen cooperation relation between Japan and Vietnam in general and with HCMC in particular.
