At the reception, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong expressed his delight at receiving Mr. Graziano Delrio and the working delegation to HCMC. He briefly mentioned the city’s challenges in environmental pollution including overloaded infrastructure, traffic congestion, etc. Therefore, the city is focusing on building public traffic system including Metro Line system. It is a policy of the city to cooperate and study experience from foreign partners including those from Italy.

In addition, Mr. Phong said the city is also developing waterway transport system, constructing waterway bus routes, saying that Italy has strengths of sea transport and HCMC would like to study experience from Italy.

HCMC is also in need of support from foreign investors in fields of human resource, environment protection, etc. Mr. Phong emphasized the city is always to welcome and create favorable conditions for Italian investors.

 
At the reception, Mr. Graziano Delrio expressed his delight at the well-developed cooperation relation between Vietnam and Italy. He said Italy is now not only paying attention to tourism cooperation with Vietnam but also hoping to strengthen cooperation in fields of trade, investment, finance, etc. with localities like HCMC. “In term of infrastructure, Italy is now paying special attention to urban development projects of HCMC like logistics, transport, metro line system, etc.”, Mr. Graziano Delrio said.
