HCMC and Israel strengthen hi-tech agriculture co-operation
On July 14, Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem had a meeting with Mr. Ilan Fluss, Deputy Director of Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation under the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MASHAV) on experimental demonstration project on raising dairy cows using high technology in the city.
At the meeting, Mr. Le Thanh Liem highly appreciated Israeli hi-tech agriculture, saying that HCMC is paying special attention to hi-tech agriculture; the city has invested in hi-tech parks and bio-technology centre. Mr. Liem announced after 2 years of implementation, the experimental demonstration project on raising dairy cows using high technology, with capital support and advises from Israeli experts, has achieved good results, the project has increased productivity and attracted participation from many households. In the coming time, HCMC will make a preliminary summing up after 2 years of implementation, work out specific targets to increase the effect of the project, remove difficulties in the implementation process of the project.
In his part, Mr. Ilan Fluss said MASHAV will strengthen a close co-operation with HCMC in field of hi-tech agriculture and find suitable directions for both sides’ effective co-operation. He affirmed that MASHAV will invite some experts of HCMC to visit some agricultural farms using hi-tech in Israel, to exchange experience in this field.
The project is a part of the cooperation program between MASHAV and HCMC Department of Agriculture and Rural Development with a total cost of 70 billon VND, of which one US$ million is non-refundable official development assistance from Israel. The project aims to increase productivity, reduce costs, training, transfer technology and expand models of using new technology in animal husbandry and production of animal feed, improving models of applying synchronously modern techniques in animal husbandry, management, nutrition, veterinary.
