In the evening of Nov 14, Chief of HCMC People’s Commitee Office Vo Van Hoan recieved a business delegation of Catalonia region (Spain) led by Mr. Damià Calvet i Valera, Minister of Territory and Sustainability of Calalonia in a working visit to Vietnam.
Speaking at the reception, Mr. Hoan said HCMC is now facing many challenges due to fast urbanization speed. Therefore, the city needs to study experience in urban management from developed cities around the world, including from Catalonia region.
Mr. Hoan added that Vietnam-Spain Friendship Relation has been well-developed through high-profile visits. However, the cooperation between HCMC and localities of Spain is not matched with available potential. In the coming time, he expects that both sides will work out specific solutions to further promote bilateral realtion through mutual visit exchanges, cultural exchanges, tourism and trade promotion activities.
For his part Mr. Damia Calvet i Valera said the working visit to Vietnam aims to establish cooperation with some cities including HCMC, Hai Phong; connect with exporters in Vietnam to boost trade activities. According to him, Catalonia, like HCMC, has faced many issues related urbanization process for a long time. However, Catalonia has applied many effective measures related to urban transport infrastructure management. With its experience and expertise, Catalonia is willing to share with HCMC toward the common goal of sustainable development.
