The southern economic and business hub, Ho Chi Minh City, targets export revenues of 35 billion USD this year, a year on year rise of 8-10 percent, according to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade.

To reach the goal, the city has steered businesses to focus on shipping industrial and processed goods with high added value.

The businesses are also advised to strengthen their presence in big markets in Europe, the America, and Asia, while seeking new potential outlets in Africa and Oceania.

In 2014, excluding crude oil, the City’s export revenues reached 27.8 billion USD, up 12 percent from 2013.

In the first month of 2015, it raked in over 2 billion USD from overseas shipments, a 9.1 percent increase year on year.
