The Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zone Authority (Hepza) will work to offer over 10,000 bus tickets for poor employees to return to their hometowns for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays.

This year’s Tet holidays will last nine days, starting from February 15.

Accordingly, Hepza will give 6,000 tickets, whose value will be covered by Hepza’s trade union (30 percent) and philanthropic businesses (70 percent), and Tet gifts worth 150,000 VND (7.2 USD) each for needy workers.

Meanwhile, the Center to support workers in the City in coordination with Unilever Company will provide 3,500 free bus tickets and gifts worth 200,000 VND (9.5 USD) for excellent workers who have not celebrated Tet holidays with their families for years.

Moreover, Hepza has called on businesses located in industrial and export processing zones to partly fund bus tickets for their workers.

So far, 195 businesses pledged to spend 1.2 billion VND (57,000 USD) on 3,433 bus tickets and another 6.5 billion VND (300,000 USD) on Tet gifts for poor workers.

Hepza will also organise music programs to celebrate the holiday at industrial and export processing zones in the City.
The authority and the municipal Department of Industry and Trade will hold mobile trade fairs to sell products under the City’s price subsidisation programme to workers, focusing on essential commodities for Tet holidays.
