HCM City will try its best to foster the relations between Vietnam and Peru, as well as between the city and the South American country, especially in economy and trade.

During a reception for Peruvian Ambassador Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Carlos  Berninzon in the city on June 9, HCM City People's Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan hailed the Peruvian diplomat's efforts over the past year to promote the relationship between the two countries.

For his part, the ambassador highlighted the effectiveness of projects invested by Vietnam's military telecom group, Viettel and PetroVietnam.

Last year the trade between Vietnam and Peru stood at  US$300 million, of which HCM City represented US$22 million.

The city's chairman hoped the working visit by the Peruvian ambassador would help boost cooperation in the areas of economy, trade and investment.

The ambassador expected the municipal authorities would continue facilitating Peruvian businesses to seek cooperation and investment opportunities.

He also hoped Vietnam will soon open its embassy in Peru as a foundation for further development of the bilateral relationship.
