Chairman of the HCM City People's Committee Le Hoang Quan hosted a reception for the new Hungarian Consul General in HCM City, Baloghdi Tibor, on June 30.
Speaking at the reception, the consul general highly appreciated the city's rapid socio-economic development as a driving economic force of the country and expressed his delight at working in the city.
The new diplomat emphasized that he would foster bilateral cooperation in various fields, including education, culture, tourism, investment and trade during his tenure.
He suggested that HCM City and Budapest, the capital of Hungary, to sign a cooperation program to boost the bilateral relationship.
Chairman Le Hoang Quan hailed the growing traditional ties between the two nations. He expressed his thanks for the support that Hungarian people had given Vietnam during its fight for national liberation.
Many Vietnamese State officials and engineers had been trained in Hungary, Quan said.
He promised to support and create favorable conditions for Hungarian enterprises to explore investment opportunities in the city.
He hoped that cooperation between Hungary and Vietnam, and with HCM City in particular, would be enhanced.
