On Nov 20, Chairman of HCMC People’s Nguyen Thanh Phong received Governor of Chiba Prefecture (Japan) Kensaku Morita on his working visit to HCMC.
At the reception, Mr. Phong siad that Japan-HCMC cooperation relation has been well developing, many Japanese investors have come, studied and sought investment cooperation opporunities, including those from Chiba, in the city.
Mr. Phong added that Chiba Prefecture has now 48 investment projects in HCMC including some big firms like Ion, Ministop, etc. Japan has now 1, 200 investment projects in HCMC worth US$ 4 billion, ranked 5 out of 100 countries and territories investing in the City. Japan Business Association in HCMC has now more than 1000 members. HCMC and Yokohama prefecture have inked an agreement in training nursing skills. Several localities of Japan are now interested in this model of cooperation with HCMC.
Mr. Phong expresed his hope that both localities will futher promote economic-cultural exchanges, experience sharing on urban management and development, labor. Besides, he said that authority of Chiba prefecture will provide the best support services for Vietnaese laborers working and living in Chiba.
For his part, Mr. Kensaku Morita said this visit aims to strengthen exchange and cooperation activities with HCMC in fields of investment, trade, agriculture, educaiton, nursing and tourism.
He expressed his hope that HCMC will continue to support Chiba’s enterprises and investors in the city.
Mr. Kensaku Morita affirmed that Chiba is willing to support Vietnamese people community living, studying and working in Chiba, contributing to the well-developed friendship and cooperation relation between Vietnam and Chiba.
