Gifu province wants to co-operate with HCMC

On July 15, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan received high-profile delegation of Gifu province (Japan) led by governor Hajime Furuta.

 

At the meeting, Mr. Quan expressed his delight at receiving the delegation, saying that the co-operation relationship between Vietnam and Japan, especially between HCMC and localities of Japan has been strongly developed. HCMC has established co-operation relationship with Kansai region and many other cities of Japan like Osaka, Yokohama, Chiba, etc. In term of investment, Japan is now ranked 3rd in total foreign directed investment in HCMC. HCMC has also opened a Japanese office in Department of Planning and Investment to promote, create favorable conditions for Japanese investors.
 
Mr. Quan said HCMC is calling for investment in agriculture and supporting industry which Gifu has strengths. He hoped that Governor Hijime Furuta introduced and encouraged enterprises of Gifu to invest in HCMC. Mr. Quan expressed his belief that this working visit will open an opportunity for an effective co-operation relation between Gifu and HCMC, contributing to improvement of Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership. 
 
On his part, Mr. Hajime Furuta thanked HCMC’s leaders for warm welcome and introduced some strengths of Gifu, saying that Gifu is promoting co-operation with Vietnam and playing a centre role for Vietnam-Japan friendship relation. Gifu will strengthen exchange and international co-operation in 3 key fields including supporting industry, hi-tech agriculture and human resource. Gifu is a large province in Central Japan, there are currently 40 enterprises from Gifu investing in Vietnam mainly in fields of supporting industry and agriculture.
