The first beam was laid on June 4 for Route No 1 of the HCM City’s Metro Line Project that will link Ben Thanh Market with Suoi Tien Tourist Park in District 2.
The HCM City’s People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan said at the ceremony that the installation of the first beam was of great significance to the project.
“This is a very important package which is a decisive factor to the progress of the project,” he said.
This metro route is important to promoting the socio-economic development of the city in correlating with Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces. The chairman wants that the Management Authority of Urban Railways (MAUR), supervision consultant and the contractor to make every effort to ensure technical standards, the harmony with the surrounding landscape and the top safety for workers and the environment.
The project is scheduled to complete in 2019 and become operational the following year.
