At the meeting, both sides highly valued the friendship and co-operation relation between Vietnam and Finland. Both sides agreed to specify co-operation in fields of IT, telecommunications, clean technology (waste and wastewater treatment), anti-flooding and education.

In his brief of socio-economic situation of HCMC, Mr. Khoa said: HCMC is the economic center of the whole country with a strong growth speed, attracting special attention from the world’s large corporations; HCMC maintains a strong economic growth speed with 30% GDP of the whole country, accounting 20% of FDI capital worth US$ 40 million.


In its upcoming development strategy, HCMC puts a special focus on strengthening co-operation with many other countries including Finland in fields of environmental treatment, urban transportation, infrastructure, anti-flooding, clean technology, etc. Mr. Khoa added trade relation between HCMC and Finland is still not matched with available potential of both sides. Finland has now 6 investment projects in HCMC worth US$ 1, 8 million.

Through this working visit, Mr. Khoa expressed his hope that many more co-operation programs between HCMC and localities of Finland will be opened, contributing to =-098he further improvement of bilateral trade co-operation between both countries.

Mrs. Lenita Toivakka expressed her impression at the development speed of HCM, saying that Finland has 3000 companies doing business in fields of waste and wastewater treatment, clean technology and telecommunication. Therefore, projects that HCMC is calling for investment are very suitable with Finland’s strengths; she affirmed that Finland will be ready for sharing experience and co-operating.

 
 
Mrs. Lenita Toivakka stressed that she will boost introduction of HCMC’s investment and co-operation environment to Finland’s enterprises and expressed her belief that Finland-HCMC co-operation relation will be more fruitful in the future.
