Finland & HCMC to promote smart city development cooperation

In the afternoon of June 26, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen had a working session with a delegation from Finland led by Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam Kari Kahiluoto on smart city development.

At the meeting, Mr. Tuyen stressed that Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular always attaches the importance of establishing cooperation relations with Finland, expressing his delight at good cooperation results between both sides, especially in fields of creatitive innovation and startup eco-system.

In his brieft of the city’s targets, Mr. Tuyen said HCMC is a special city. It is a target of the city to become a smart city and an economic-financial-commercial-scientific-technological city of the region. He added the working visit of Finnish delegation is very significant to the city’s smart city development project towards fast & sustainable economic growth, creating connnectivity and close interaction between the city’s authorities and local citizens, briging practical benefits to local citizens.

With Finland’s strengths, Mr. Tuyen expessed his hope that Finland will share its experiences in fields of the city’s interests like smart city, smart transport, smart health-care and sports management, etc.

For his part, Mr. Kari Kahiluoto said leading Finnish experts in field of smart city development are willing to share their experiences with HCMC and ready for establishing long-term cooperation relations with the city in its process of smart city development.

He added that Finland is expecting to cooperate with HCMC in fields of smart urban area development, smart urban transport solutions, community health, and clean energy.

In the framework of the working visit, Finnish experts have introduced some typical projects on smart city development, creative parks in some countries, discussing issues related to trends and technical requirements in the process of building smart city.
