(HCM CityWeb) – On September 30, Management Authority for Urban Railways of HCMC hosted the bridge opening ceremony of Saigon River Overpass under Metro Line No 1 between Ben Thanh and Suoi Tien. Chairman of HCMC People’s committee Nguyen Thanh Phong attended.
This is one of 5 special bridges under Metro Line No 1; the project was started in December 2013 implemented by Consortium of Sumitomo Corporation-Cienco 6.
According to Management Authority for Urban Railways of HCMC, the workload of elevated track is now 60% complete, a total of 11 stations are under construction.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien Metro project is one of the key products of the city to solve traffic congestion in Northeastern gateway, contributing to the socio-economic development of the city.
Mr. Phong requested Management Authority for Urban Railways of HCMC to coordinate with consultancy units and contractors to speed up the progress of construction, to ensure safety, quality and schedule of the project by 2020.
