In 2015, HCMC’s tourism affirmed its position as a leading tourism center of the whole country with a stable growth speed, contributing to the economic restructuring of the city.

The city received 4, 6 million tourists, up 4, 6% compared to 2014 and achieving 97, 8% of the plan. A total of 19, 3 million domestic visited HCMC in 2015, up 13%. Total tourism revenue reached VND 94,600 billion, up 10% as compared of 2014. The results thanked to effective solutions, strong business co-operation and tourism promotion, especially through Internet, attractive and diversified travel tours.
Mr. La Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of HCMC Department of Tourism said the city continues to enhance its image of “HCMC – a friendly, attractive and safe destination” in 2016, driving tourism growth in the direction of stability, making a big change in term of tourism product and service quality through strengthening tourism promotion, international co-operation to actively compete with the region. As planned, the city aims to receive 5, 1 million international tourists, up 11% compared to 2015, 21, 8 million domestic visitors, up 12% as of 2015. The city also aims to achieve a total tourism revenue (travel, hotel, restaurant) of VND 104, 000 billion.
To achieve the above target, HCMC tourism sector will continue to improve quality of tourism product and service, strengthen waterway tourism, especially inner waterway tourism routes, develop standardized tourism services, enhance the program of “HCMC-100 interesting things) and construct a cultural and artistic programs, do research and development of new tourism products to meet the increasing demand of tourists.
