At the reception, Mr. Neill James said the UK Prosperity Fund (as a part of UK Government) has chosen HCMC as one of the world’s cities to receive support. It is expected that the fund will support 03 fields including transport, uran planning, enhancement of capacity for HCMC to cope with flooding.

He added that the financial package of UK Prosperity Fund will be disbursed in 2018 to support HCMC to develop smart city.

For his part, Mr. Tran Vinh Tuyen thanked UK Government for its support to HCMC to develop smart city. He expressed his hope that the UK would share its experiences in building smart city. Regarding to smart traffic project, Mr. Tuyen assigned Departments of Transport, Information and Communications the job of working with consultancy units to capture detailed information of the project and support committments from UK government, to introduce contents of construction of smart city.

In order to build smart city, it is expected that HCMC will attract investment in building multidisciplinary operating center, including transport. The city hopes that the UK will share its experience in data management and give more support to Vietnam through UK Prosperity Fund.
