In the afternoon of June 26, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen received a delegation of Jeollabuk province (Korea) led by Deputy Govenor Park Noh Wan in a working visit to the city.
At the reception, Mr. Park Noh Wan – former Korean Consul General in HCMC-said he has just left HCMC for 5 months and delighted at returning the city. Jeollabuk is a small province in Southwestern Korea and still not establishing cooperation relations with HCMC. A total of 1,200 Vietnamese people is now living in Jeollabuk. Jeollabuk and HCMC have many cultural and traditional similarities. Both sides have many prospects for cooperation fields of cuisine, agriculture, touristm, culture, solar energy, etc. He affirmed Jeollabuk hopes to cooperate with HCMC in fields of culture and tourism, especially between Jeoju City and HCMC.
For his part, Mr. Tuyen said HCMC has established friendship relationships with 7 localities of Korea including Busan, Daegu, Seoul, Incheon, Gyeongsangbuk, Gyeongju and Gangwon, affirming the city hopes expand its cooperation with other localities of Korea.
He added that Mr. Park Noth Wan’s deep knowledge and understanding about HCMC will open many cooperation prospects between both localities. The city hopes to cooperates with Jeollabuk in fields of film, natural renewable energy research (wind power, solar power), climate change adaptation, tourism, sport, etc. He assigned Department of External Relations the job of proceeding neccessary procedures to establish friendship relations and exchange activities between HCMC and Jeollabuk.
