January 29, on the occasion of 50 years of Mau Than General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1968, a delegation led by Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem paid visits and gave gifts to HCMC Trational Resistance Club and family of former General Mai Chi Tho – former member of Politburo, former Minister of Home Affairs (now Ministry of Public Security), former Secretary of HCMC Party Committee.
At the HCMC Traditional Resistance Club, Mr. Liem acknowledged great contributions of the club’s members to the struggle of national liberation, especially in the Mau Than General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1968, many directly leading and joining the attack of radio station of Saigon authority. Mr. Liem expressed his hope that the Club will continue upholding the fighting spirit of General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1968, making more contributions to the process of national construction and protection, building HCMC a civilized, rich and sentimental one.
In a visit to family of former General Mai Chi Tho, Mr. Liem burnt insense, paid homage and spent a minute of silence to remember General Tho’s great contributions to the process of national construction. General Tho is one of the greatest leaders of Sai Gon-Gia Dinh Party Committee in the General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1968. Mr. Liem wished them good health, expressed his hope that the family of General Tho will continue upholding the revolutionary tradition and contributing more to the development of the city.
